Happenings in 229!

Boy, last week was busy! Here's what we have been up to...

One project that my homeroom worked on was building and launching parachutes as an introduction to flight. Students were given materials (plastic bags, string, yarn, scissors, tape) and the instructions of making a parachute. That was it! I was happily surprised by the many different designs of parachutes.

We launched the parachutes in the back stairwell. Everyone successfully launched their parachute!

For the past couple of weeks, we have been working on our Memorial School Passports. These passports contain all the expectations that teachers and staff at Memorial have for students in different areas of the building. Everyone visited all SEVEN areas and learned about the expectations from different members of the Memorial School community. Here's Mrs. Dressler talking to Room 229 about the expectations in the beautiful new learning space at the Butterfly Garden.

Finally, on September 15th, we visited Ms. Small in the library. She has set up a self-checkout desk for students so that they have access to the library at any point during the day. How cool is that!?

September 15th was Dot Day (click on the link to see more information). We sang, we danced, and we created a dot all together.

Until next time,
Ms. Felton
