Rockets and Lowell Mills

It was an exciting week in fourth grade! Yesterday we had perfect weather for launching rockets up on Memorial Field. All of our rockets successfully launched! I will be uploading pictures to the album "November Pictures" soon!

Today we visited Lowell Mills and got to explore what it was like to be an immigrant traveling to Lowell. We got the chance to unbundle artifacts that different groups of people brought with them to America from their home countries.

After lunch we had a chance to take on roles of different characters and participate in a town meeting.

After the town meeting, we saw a real boarding house where the Irish mill girls lived. Did you know that 40 girls lived together in the boarding house? That's a lot of people in a small amount of space!!

When we returned to Memorial, we got to enjoy some time in this BEAUTIFUL weather.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Talking to a Veteran

Today we got a chance to Skype with my friend Steven who served in the Air Force for four years. We had fun asking questions about his time serving our country and about things that he likes to do now.

October in Review

October was such a busy month for us! We have been building rockets. We earned a whole school award for filling up our STARbuck rockets. We had a whole grade trivia game. We met with our Reading Buddies and made Jack-O-Lanterns. Check out some of the photographs from all of our fun this month (look under pages and find October Pictures)!
